Vintage Flight

The Liberty Bell, a World War II era B-17, has been touring around airports in Tennessee.  We got a chance to catch her out at the Smyrna Airport this weekend.  Although I was not lucky enough to take it for a spin (what’s a ride in another aircraft??), those that did got to crawl around into the gunner seats and took a tour round the lake.

Here are some photos from their stop.  The woman pictured with the vintage flight hat is the granddaughter of one of many men who served on this flying fortress. Enjoy!

  1. Actually Wendy, she is the daughter of a highly decorated navigator who flew on numerous missions over Germany in a B 17. The hat was her father’s.
